I finally met Hillary and Elizabeth yesterday. They are fantastic. That is all.

No, I’ll say it again. They are fantastic.

Happy Valentine’s Day

At Hearts A Bluhm - William & Joan Brodsky

hearts on Michigan Avenue

Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all. Patrick is still her. We’re spending the day at the Chicago Auto Show with Kathy. Then we’re going to see Robyn tonight with Nite.

Yesterday, I ate too much pork and spent most of the day in bed, wondering if “death by scrapple” is, like, a thing. Today, I’m going to eat nothing but oatmeal and fruit and vegetables and drink gallons of water.

Nite at the Museum

Behind you!

I signed up with some temp agencies this morning. I probably should have done this sooner, but there you are. I e-mailed a recruiter I’ve been working with, and wrote an e-mail to an HR director for a firm I’m very interested in.

Then I looked up 2011 museum free days (thanks, Explore Chicago!) and decided to go to The Field Museum. I called Nite and got him to go with me. Score! A pal to join me on my adventure. Now I had a reason to shower.

First plate

The buffet at the Mity Nice Grill was delicious. I should have taken pictures of the whole spread, including the dessert table covered in chocolate covered marshmallows, but I think this picture of my first place (there were three in all, though plates two and three were nowhere near this full) should suffice.

feast of the consumption

Friday, June 18: I took the day off to go to the funeral. I attended breakfast with the family, the wake, and then the service itself. Yes, I checked into the church on Foursquare. Cynthia and her daughter Ariel wore purple, while Jerad sported a purple tie and a natty straw fedora. I thought maybe it was because it had been her mother’s favorite color, but she said it was just because her mom was buried wearing a suit with a purple blouse, and she thought it would look nice on the family. She was right.

spring fling

Now where was I? Oh yes. Hello everybody!

Jasmine and Kelly at the Art Institute

“I know it’s been a long time since I’ve rapped at ya” but I have been soooo busy. Okay, maybe not soooo busy. Maybe like busy alternating with bouts of sloth. You know, the usual. Let’s see what I’ve been up to these last two weeks.

i like to watch: nerds, gleeks, and paintballs

I remember saying a while ago that “Modern Family” was my favorite show of the current season (which is currently winding down) but even then I wasn’t sure with “Community”, “Justified”, and “Glee” being in the mix. “Glee” has felt off to me since its return, and Alyssa Rosenberg crystallized my feelings almost exactly when she wrote about “Glee” for The Atlantic earlier this week.

Of course, I still love “Glee”, but I’m forcing myself to be pickier about what I do and don’t like. Right now, I’m not always loving the musical numbers, Rachel-Jesse-Finn, and (as ever) Asian/Other Asian/Mercedes/Artie getting little screentime. Am I still dying for some represent-Asian for my yellow, brown, and black peeps? Fuck yes.

Especially since they killed off all the Asians on “Lost”. They killed off all the Asians!

look closer

Khloé gave me a pass to the opening preview of Art Chicago, which opens today and runs through Monday, May 3. Admission to NEXT and The Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair, the other two events that comprise Artropolis, was included. I asked Nite to come with me. We had a great deal of fun checking out the fair together last year (see pictures of that here).
