I went to the Art Institute on Thursday to settle myself. My mind has been racing — no job! no money! no peace! — and I thought the best way to slow it down was to sit in the Ando Gallery for as long as I needed to.

Whenever Jen or Diana e-mail me to tell me that a particular “Intern Jasmine’s Links of the Daysian” post is a good one, I get all warm and fuzzy. So read this week’s post and leave a comment already!
I have an interview on Monday. An actual in person group interview the idea of which makes me nervous. Nervous! Also I don’t own a suit. I need to buy a suit, and I’ve not been having much luck finding one.
So let’s look at some pictures instead. Continue reading

I put on a sundress and went to the Art Institute after work for a Gapers Block/Explore Chicago meetup. Admission to the museum is free Thursday evenings, from 5:30 until closing time at 8:00. If I’d known members could just cruise in and bypass the line, I would have done so. But the guards managing the line looked so stern. I didn’t want to bother them.
I won’t be home to watch the season 8 premiere of Project Runway (boo!) because I’ll be partying at the Art Institute with my fellow Gapers Block people (yay!).
So please enjoy this picture taken of me with Tim Gunn when he appeared at BlogHer ’09.
We can talk about my shiny-ass forehead and white t-shirt that makes me look like a balloon at a later time, okay?
Can we just take a minute to watch this video and marvel at how wonderful this song is?
Okay, take another minute. It’s so worth it.
I think by now you’re probably wondering what I did this weekend, so let’s begin.
I tried to find a birthday present for my mother yesterday. Instead, I ended up buying myself these two sweet bracelets at the Art Institute gift shop. I think Mom would be disappointed, but I also suspect she would not be surprised.
Right now, somewhere in my apartment, there is a packet of ashes. Yes, they are Bruce’s. Not all of them, but a baggie of them in an envelope that I got at his memorial service. Which was LAST SUMMER.
The Modern Wing of the Art Institute turned 1 with a birthday party on Saturday afternoon. There was cake and lemonade and singing (though not necessarily in that order).
I made this video of assembled guests and museum staff singing “Happy Birthday”. I’m not sure what to make of that gentleman in the dark red sweatshirt who turned around and stared for a bit. Maybe he was annoyed that his top clashed with the bright red cake? I know I’d be pissed to commit such a fashion faux pas.
