this week in food: birthday cake, bao bing, and oysters

Cinnamon had a birthday this week. She invited a bunch of folks to Double Bubble (also known as “The Bubble”) for beer and birthday cake (red velvet with cream cheese frosting). I didn’t take any pictures because I was just having too much fun. Too much fun! There was also crazy weather, so people would occasionally run outside and watch the lightning before the skies opened up.

Bao bing

Bao bing from Jo Snow's Syrups at the Lincoln Square Farmers Market

Thursday night means snow cones at the Lincoln Square Farmers Market with Elisa, Danita, and Chico. I got the bao bing topped with tea jelly, blueberries, and sweetened condensed milk. So delicious and refreshing and there is so much of it. And yet I managed to put away a burger and onion rings and a fair amount of cheesy tater tots after the market when we had dinner at the Daily Grill. #burp

My co-worker D wanted to get out of the office for lunch on Friday so we, along with my other co-worker H (not sure if I want to use their names yet) went to McCormick & Schmick’s, which is just next to the building in which we work. Which isn’t getting away from the office so much as finding a place where we could sit outside, enjoy the glorious weather, and eat seafood. #splurge
