thursday and friday

Whenever Jen or Diana e-mail me to tell me that a particular “Intern Jasmine’s Links of the Daysian” post is a good one, I get all warm and fuzzy. So read this week’s post and leave a comment already!

I have an interview on Monday. An actual in person group interview the idea of which makes me nervous. Nervous! Also I don’t own a suit. I need to buy a suit, and I’ve not been having much luck finding one.

So let’s look at some pictures instead.

Thursday! I found myself at the Borders on Michigan Avenue. The store is about to close, so whatever stock is left has been reduced to 40% off. I almost bought a book written by Shannen Doherty because, well, it was written by Shannen Doherty.

I was at Borders because it was there, across the street from the Water Tower Place where I found no suit. I found that I needed a suit because while I was having coffee with Elisa, I got the call about this interview on Monday. I won’t say where I’m interviewing but it’s not corporate so I could get away with a nice sweater and pants but my friend Lyletta thinks I shouldn’t take any chances not wearing a suit. Just thinking about this is exhausting, just like everything else about unemployment.

Peacock Door

On Friday, Carly and I went to see a matinee of Blue Valentine (go see it!) at the AMC River East theater, aka my home away from home. I’ve spent so much time there in the last three years I should get my own dedicated stall in the ladies room.

After the movie, we went our separate ways; Carly to home, and me to the Art Institute. After getting off the bus, I cut through the Palmer House because I thought I wanted to use their fancy bathroom and take a photo of the lobby ceiling but instead I took this photograph of the Peacock Door.

Art Institute steps with words that light up. The words will be there until Sunday, January 9. PS: I love free weekdays at the museum until February 4.

curled tails

I’m catsitting for Leah while she’s away. This is Spidey and Cowboy. I think they are half-brothers. Observe their tails, curled just so. After their meal, I gave them treats which they ate from my hand! They love me, I think. Or they just love the snacks.

"Only A Rooster..."

No explanation needed. I’ve never eaten at Jake’s. I hope to soon. I didn’t notice any similar decoration to this in other windows. I think this is what Jake’s is best known for.
