the f word

  1. I am no longer writing for Recapist.com. Feeling somewhat relieved, but still a little sad. Especially since the site’s founder, Michael, was so nice to work for.
  2. I am seriously contemplating traveling to the Philippines in March for my grandmother’s 85th birthday. It is my aunt’s idea that we all go together.
    1. My birthday is only five days after hers (and four days after my dad’s) so I’d most definitely be spending my birthday in the motherland.
    2. First visit back in 25 years. Twenty. Five. Motherfuckin’. Years.
    3. I mean, damn.
    4. As much as I’d love to see family, I’d have nowhere to run away when they start driving me crazy. And that’s not even a question, as I am postive at some point I will want to run away to the nearest airport.
    5. I’m making a mental list of people I know who live in that part of the world. So far all I’ve got are Mike and Angie. And they live in New Zealand.
  3. Time Out Chicago wedding issue is out this week. My piece, along with the other features, is on-line. I think the other pieces are all great, especially the groom testimonials and the article about having a non-traditional wedding. My piece came together, not with the grace of some higher authority or even my own laughable talent, but with some serious editorial chops from my editors at the magazine. Freelancing is not for the faint of heart.
  4. That being said, I need to step up my game, now that I no longer have recapping to pay my cable bill.
  5. The book project is on hold, so Nick and I are thinking of what else to do with what we’ve already researched and written. News on that next week.
  6. I think it may be time for me to start dating. Or at least a steady to take me to the movies so Jeff and Nite, the two best gay boyfriends a girl could ever have, can have some time to themselves.
  7. Failure. Fat. Filipino. Fired. Frisson.
  8. Fall. I love the change in weather. I’ve already laid out what I’m wearing to work tomorrow, which I never do, because I’m so glad to have the opportunity to layer. [Polyvore]
  9. My new favorite things are Twitter, Google Reader, and FoxyTunes.
  10. Looking at that last item, I realize that I must get back into the world of the living. But first, I have some old Smiths records to listen to.
