this week in Asian: blame the Filipino

Patrick and I always IM during Project Runway, and last night was no different. Though we were both sad to see the genuinely talented Kevin get auf’d — especially since Ricky made another poorly-constructed dress — we understood the decision to ax him over the hoochie-ish red prom dress with raggedy hem he made for his prom-going client.

Quick question, though: when first questioned on the runway after the show, why did he start off saying his client was Filipino as a way to explain his choice of cheap-looking too-too bright fabric? We’re not all that tacky.

Or maybe we are.

Sadly, Kevin’s client was looking too taken aback to protest or back him up. I guess if the dress you’re wearing is being torn up by Gilles Mendel, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and Heidi Klum who are all sitting mere feet from you, it’s hard to gather your wits about you to respond.
